Meet Benni |
||

Benni is a very sweet little 9 pound red Affenpinscher. It was thought at first that he might be a Brussels Griffon but upon the removal of the wild, matted hair that he had, it was discovered that he is definitely an Affen. He is about 9 years old and was found in a large shelter in New York City. Through the cooperation of organizations in that part of the country and an "angel" at the shelter, we were able to get him out of there and into foster care. He has been quite the little traveler recently. He was first picked up by a griffy person in New Jersey, then went home with another griffy person in Pennsylvania. After a few days, he took a flight and ended up in north Texas where he is today.
Upon arrival, Benni had extremely bad teeth and very little hair (and what he had was matted to the skin). As you can see from his "before" and "after" pictures, he is now "hair challenged" (yes, he's pretty naked but he loves to wear his shirts). Even though he wears "clothes" now, he's way more comfortable than before. We don't know how much of his hair will grow back. He's currently covered with white fuzz so there's hope. When it does come back, you'll see the red color reappear on the tips of the hair. Just look on the bright side...no shedding!!!!!
His dental work was extensive and after surgery and lots of antibiotics, he's much healthier now. After he got rid of many bad teeth, his little affen personality began to blossom on a daily basis. He is a FUN little dog. He loves people and other small dogs. He literally prances around the house carrying either a bone or squeaky toy. He is a little possessive of his "stuff" (toys, bones or people) and will get sassy and let the others know if they get too close. But, believe me, it's all talk! Benni is doing well with his housebreaking and has already learned to use a doggie door.
Benni's medical costs are being sponsored through the generosity of the Affenpinscher Club of America.
