Bindi is a 6.5 year old, 10 pound red Affenpinscher girl.  She began her life with a  commercial breeder and she produced puppies as often as she was able for the first 6 years of her life.  Bindi survived her sad beginnings and is healthy with a very sweet, trusting and loving nature.

When Bindi came to us we wondered if she had ever been groomed. Nonetheless, she went through the bathing & grooming process like a trooper and emerged as one beautiful little Affen girl!  Her coat is growing back nicely and she will soon show off the famous Affen beard.  For some reason, her little pink tongue peeks out most of the time, which is quite loveable.  Along with her adorable face, perky ears and absolutely gorgeous eyes, we think she is incredibly charming!

Bindi follows her foster Mom from room to room, and one of her greatest joys is to find a warm lap to snuggle on.  She is beginning to understand walking on a leash, and seems to enjoy brisk walks.  Bindi is inquisitive, yet laid back and gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, as well as the dogs in the neighborhood.  She likes everyone she meets, but seems to prefer women.  Her foster Dad is working with her on that.  She will now cuddle with him sometimes and will accept treats from him.  She bonds very quickly and wants to be close to someone she trusts at all times.

Bindi arrived at her foster “parents” house on 7/3/07.  They discovered that she is terrified of loud noises and was afraid to go outside when the fireworks started the next evening.  A few days later there was a thunderstorm and they found that she is terrified of thunder and lightning too.  Her special “hiding” place during thunderstorms is an interior bathroom with no windows (pretty smart!).

Bindi is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, recently had a dental, and is heartworm negative. She is starting to understand the concept of potty training, but will need extra encouragement and lots of patience.  When she can’t be watched every minute, she wears a doggy diaper in the house.  Many dogs with sad beginnings like Bindi’s have a difficult time with potty training.

This endearing little girl wants nothing more than a warm, loving home of her very own where she can share all the love she so desperately yearns to offer some very lucky family!  She is a wonderful companion and always seems to have a smile on her sweet face!  Bindi is being fostered in the Chicago, Illinois area.

Bindi is now living in Hawaii!! She has a loving forever home with two other Affens.
