My name is Heidi Mae. I was rescued
from a really bad place called a puppy mill. I spent about 4 years there in
a cage having puppies. One day two nice people took my brother, sisters and
me away from there. I rode a long way in the car with one of my sisters and
I went to my foster mom's house. It was really scary at first because everything
was so different, but now I really like it.
I have a brother to play with and he is really fun. His name is Otto. We love
to play tug of war with all our toys. We also like to chase and wrestle. I could
never catch him at first. I had been in a cage so long that I didn't really
know how to run. I am getting much faster now and I am determined to keep up
with him. I am kind of big for an Affen at 18 pounds but my foster mom says
I am beautiful. I love my foster mom and I like to be next to her all the time.
My foster dad makes me kind of nervous because men were not always nice to me.
I bark at him sometimes but he says nice things to me and then we are friends.
I am learning a lot of new things in my foster home. I get to go outside and
walk around the block on my leash and it is really fun. My mom also says the
word "sit" and if I put my bottom on the ground she gives me a little
doggie treat that is yummy. I can do it right almost every time and my mom says
I am learning fast.
I would love to find a forever family. I get skittish around very small kids
so that might not be a great fit for me. I like to play with other dogs and
have met several in my neighborhood that are fun to play with. My foster mom
also has a creature called a cat. I don't like her. When I see her I bark and
try to go after her but my mom won't let me....so maybe a house with a cat would
not be such a great idea.
I love to be petted and scratched and I like to curl up in my dog bed wherever
my family is just to be around them. I'm not a lap dog but I do like to snuggle
right next to friendly people.
Love,
Heidi Mae
UPDATE - Heidi Mae has been adopted. Here is a note and some pictures from her new family.
We love Heidi! We didn't change her name because she responded so well to it. She and the cat must have an understanding; they never acknowledge each other. Heidi and Griff, our BIG dog love to play. That was the only concern I had to begin with. I was afraid she would be afraid of him. Things have been so wonderful. The other day I dropped a sock from the laundry on the floor. I didn't realize it until Heidi brought it to me!! We are so pleased that there are people like you and Patti who care enough to rescue and help these dogs.
God Bless,
Amy and Dennis
