Little Girl doesn't like her old name. It makes her run away when she hears it so... shhhh... don't mention she used to be Helga in her last life. She is shy and curious and she likes food a lot! Those long legs let her explore fishing things off the kitchen counter but the roast beef that was thawing scared her when it fell. She really is too short to reach the counter so she is also very clever at figuring things out. She was so skinny when she came that you know food is important because she was starved. She's looking good now!
She gets along well with other dogs of all descriptions. If you are sitting in the kitchen you will suddenly have shy little paws seeking attention by tapping on your legs. She likes going out on a schedule and having two meals a day. She thinks dog beds are very nice and being crated overnight or for meals can be tolerated.
Her coat is a fabulous inky black
and very hard so it should be neat and tidy and easy to groom.
She needs time and patience, some training, and plenty of love including healthy
treats (she says chicken works great!) to help her learn the joy of being a
pet dog.
Today a stranger came to visit and
she put her feet right up on her and let the strange lady pat her! Big progress
for such a shy girl who has never seen the big bad world before now. She thinks
she might like the world if it comes with pats and chicken!
Update - She has been adopted and is now named Abby. Here's a note from her new mom.
Here is our Abby - living in a suburb of Boston with her forever lady and 2 other Affenpinschers - Rocky & Dino and her other new sibling - a mixed lab by the name of Maddie. Abby is doing beautifully and fitting in perfectly. We are so in love with her and she seems to love us right back because she gives lots of kisses. We thank you so very much for rescuing Abby and giving us this new little being to love.
With much gratitude.
Priscilla
