Mickey is another very lucky little
boy. He was in a shelter in KY, very near a large military base where a lot
of deployments have been taking place. The shelter was doing everything they
could to adopt these dogs coming from families whose lives have been disrupted.
Mickey was found on Petfinder, and a family in northern AL, who had already
adopted an Affen (see Alex on Happy Endings), drove up to KY to get him. He
is small, about 10 pounds, and the best estimate of age is about 3 years old.
According to his foster mother, Mickey is a very loveable dog. He loves attention
and gets along well with people. He loves to curl up on your lap, or will lie
beside you on the couch for hours at a time. His other family did a good job
on training him. Mickey is housebroken, neutered, has had all shots, is heartworm
negative and on medication and has no parasites. According to his foster family,
he is very intelligent.
He has chewed through the fence but it was not a heavy grade wire like chain
link. He didn't leave however and just went to the front yard and was waiting
when his mom and dad came home a few minutes later. He just didn't want to be
alone, and the fence has been reinforced.
Mickey loves to play and he walks well on a leash. He is a very needy little
guy and craves attention. He is extremely devoted. If you are looking for a
"Velcro" dog, Mickey is for you. He does need a home where there are
no other animals. He does well away from home with other dogs, but he will do
best in a one pet family.
Mickey will be great in a family with children eleven and above. He adores the
attention he gets from the foster family's teenagers.
He is a loveable, sweet Affen and he deserves a home where he can be the "comforter"
to all his people.
Mickey is located in northern Alabama.
UPDATE - Micky has been adopted!
