Ruthie is a small Affen who spent the first six years of her life in a puppy mill in southern Missouri. This summer Ruthie got sick and was scheduled to be put down when a friend of mill dogs got her and took her to a vet. It was thought that she had an infection in her reproductive system, but when the doctor "opened her up", it was found she was full of peritonitis. The doctor worked hard for several days to save Ruthie and was successful. Affenpinscher Rescue was called and we picked her up in Kansas City. She blended in well with her foster mom and six foster brothers, who were thrilled to have a sister. She was spayed, had some dental work done, and went to a new home with three cats. Unfortunately, Ruthie was afraid of the cats and it got so she just went into her foster dad's workroom and hid under the workbench. After working with her, they finally had to give her back to Affen Rescue with much reluctance.
She is with another foster family with no cats and a lot of dogs, and is doing beautifully. She is now a very young 7 and in excellent health. She weighs about 10 pounds and has really done well. It would be best for Ruthie to be in a home with other dogs and children over 10.
UPDATE - Ruthie has been adopted!
