Meet Violet Rescued 2010

This is Violet. I think she's most likely a Jack Russell/Affenpinscher mix.  She's very sturdy and healthy at about 3 years old, 14 pounds and 10" tall, with a body and coat type that is distinctly more terrier than Affen.  She has the most incredible eyes - soulful eyes that have seen a lot of bad times, I believe. She takes a long time to develop her personality in a new situation. When she first came to me, she was so serious and independent. Now she's cheerful and bright, happy and affectionate.

Violet still has a few issues. She is very obedient and submissive to me, but will growl even as she enjoys affectionate petting. She does not get along well with other female dogs, or any dog that challenges her by growling. I believe she would do best on her own as an only dog, but here at my house, she is attached to my Italian Greyhound at the hip and they get along famously, so she can get along with some dogs just fine. She has much more trouble getting on with a more dominant type dog like an Affen.

Violet needs her own very special owner, and I hope she will find one who is willing to see her finer points while laughing at her quirks, like I do. She is very well trained, knows all her commands, and is crate trained, as well as house broken. She can be a little overly active when left to her own devices, so it would be best to plan on crating her, or confining her to a dog safe place, while she is home alone.  She is currently being fostered in PA.
